The (SDR#) SDRSharp Community Plugin Package is the most comprehensive version of the popular “Software Defined Radio” software package for Windows. SDR# works with the Airspy, but the package is especially popular because it also works with the cheap RTL-SDR dongles.

Sdrsharp Plugins Auto Tune Software

In earlier blogs, you could read how to install SDR# on a computer with Windows Vista or Windows 7. This was followed by a blog about how to install SDRSharp (SDR#) on Windows 10. The newer versions are now much easier to install. That is why we look at the “Community Plugin Package” in this blog: a package that not only installs SDR# and the required drivers but also a large number of useful plug-ins.

The basis of the SDR# (SDRSharp) Community Plugin Package is, of course, SDR# itself, together with the associated utilities. The drivers for the well-known RTL-SDR dongle are also installed automatically. The installation includes the following components:

  • SDR# (SDRSharp)
  • Airspy R2/Mini Calibration Tool 1.0
  • ADS-B Spy – High-Performance ADS-B Decoder
  • Spectrum Spy 1.0 – Fast Sweeping SDR Spectrum Analyzer
  • Astro Spy 1.0 – Radio Astronomy Utility for Hydrogen Line Spectroscopy
  • SPY Server – Multi-client SDR Server with Fast DDC
  • RTL-SDR Dongle Installation Script

SDRSharp Community Plugin Package

In addition to SDR#, the drivers and utilities, the following plug-ins are also installed automatically:

Install SDR# Community Plugin Package

Installing the SDR# Community Plugin Package is easy and largely automatic.

  1. Go to https://airspy.com/download/ and download the “Community Package with Plugins“.
  2. Start the installer “SDRSharp-installer.exe” that you just downloaded.
  3. If “Windows Defender Smartscreen” prevents the installer from being started, click on “More information” to be able to run the installer.
  4. Agree to the license agreement.
  5. In the “Choose Components” screen you can de-select any plug-ins that you do not want to install, click on the “Install” button to continue.
  6. The selected components will now be downloaded and installed.
  7. When the installation is complete, click on the “Finish” button to complete the installation and start SDRSharp.
  8. Click on the “gear” icon at the top left in SDRSharp and choose your SDR device (eg RTL2832U).
  9. Then click on the “play” icon to the left of the gear, you can now tune into frequencies.

You can now fine-tune the settings and try out all the plug-ins.

Unlike previous versions, this installer does create shortcuts in the Start menu and on the desktop, so you no longer have to do that yourself.

What is DSDPlusUI?

DSDPlusUI is a free, feature packed Graphical User Interface created by Annunaki - M6UFR, This program was created to increase the User Experience of DSD+ Public and Fastlane releases by way of a 'clickable' GUI and is supported on x86/64 desktop and tablet platforms.

While the Public release of DSD+ is good still it is very old and extremely outdated and there have been many many improvements and features added to the Fastlane release, It costs just $10 for a years worth of updates or $25 for lifetime updates which is an absolute bargain!. So go on show your support to the developers and get on the Fastlane.

DSD+ can be used with most popular receivers (Airspy, RTL-SDR and SDRPlay) with the correct drivers but personally I recommend the Airspy r2 receiver because well lets put it this way it is a fantastic bit of kit which combined with the above is another purchase that you will NOT regret.

Sdrsharp Plugins Auto Tune Plugin

You can use DSD+ with Airspys SDRSharp (another piece of awesome software) but you will need to use a Virtual Audio cable which can get a little bit messy and produce bad decoding of digital streams but I highly recommend using FMPA (via TCP linking FMPA to DSD+) which has been designed specifically for use with Airspy.
